Hey everyone!
Coming to you live from Austin, Texas. Here’s your weekly dose of Arman’s Antics. A quick recap of what I’ve been exploring and creating that will either make you think, laugh, cry (or a nasty combination of the three).
Welcome to the three new subscribers receiving this for the first time (271 total). I don’t take your inbox or attention lightly.
Essay I wrote last week
Some like to believe that nothing is a coincidence.
Others like to believe that everything is a coincidence.
Who’s right? Does it even matter?
I’m not sure.
But I’ve got three true stories and one controversial conclusion for you:
Is it worth paying extra for?
I used to care about my hair as much as a dog cares about their bad breath (not much).
When it came to haircuts, my idea of splurging was going to Great Clips.
But then my best friend Zac convinced me to go to a real barbershop. And nothing was the same.
I was a stranger in a strange land. My appointment was scheduled to last one hour. Were they going to cut each hair folicle individually?
Then I realized there are professionals who care about their craft. They weren’t rushing through each head of hair like a factory worker on the assembly line.
The results spoke for themselves. Before barbershops, I was an ignorant little boy. After barbershops, I became a man.
So yes, even I (Mr. Frugal) must admit, that when it comes to hair — you absolutely get what you pay for. You’ll look better, feel more confident, and might just change the world.
Youtube channel I’ve been binging
I could never call myself a conspiracy theorist because that would make me a scientist who comes up with theories. I’m definitely no scientist and I don’t play one on the internet.
But I guess you could call me a conspiracy enthusiast. And for my fellow enthusiasts, this youtube channel is for you.
This guy covers some of the wildest myths, conspiracies, and cover ups in depth. But he’s not a naive believer.
In fact, he debunks a majority of them at the end. Which threw me for a loop because I could have sworn the stories he told were 100% true.
He does an amazing job of making you believe that he believes every story he shares. But in the end, he debunks 90% of them. What about the other 10%…
Introducing Book notes
Don’t tell me who you are, show me what you’ve read.
I don’t have much of a life, so I read (a lot).
I’ve compiled a collection of my all-time favorite books that I would recommend with every fiber in my body.
I wish more people did this.
I think revealing what books have most impacted us reveals more than anything we could put on a resume.
So I’ve created a new page on my site called (you guessed it) — Book Notes.
I’ve broken it down into two categories:
Books you’ve definitely heard of
Books you’ve never heard of
I plan to add to this over time, so be sure to check back in a few weeks to see what’s new.
And one question for you — will you please show me what you’ve read?

“Before barbershops, I was an ignorant little boy. After barbershops, I became a man.” 😂
You’ve inspired me to start a book log
Ah, The Alchemist changed my life. It's great you had a good experience at the barbershop. Did you also have a good conversation? I remember having the best one with a Serbian immigrant when I was 17. We talked about our immigrant stories and culture differences.
