Essay I didn’t write last week
Last Thursday was the first time in 68 weeks I didn’t stick to my promise and publish a new essay. I’m not one for excuses, but you’ll find out why if you continue to the end.
But don’t worry. I’ve still got you covered.
Here’s my most popular essay from the archives on the importance of separating the creator from the creation:
Tying the knot
I know I just said I’m not one for excuses. But here’s my excuse for not publishing summed up in one photo:
I’ve been married for four days so I should be an expert on the topic and have something clever to say by now, right?
Ah, you think too highly of me.
It may take four weeks, four years, or four lifetimes to describe how I felt that day. For now, all I can say is my heart is full and my wife and I have never felt so loved.
Best wedding music?
I’ve attended quite a few weddings and have witnessed even more in the movies. Music is always a big part of the event.
There’s some bangers that every DJ knows will get the crowd movin and groovin like Mr. Brightside or Love Story. But how often do you get to see a live Mariachi band?
My wife is half Mexican and her uncle’s band has been playing at weddings for over thirty years. I think it’s safe to say they were a crowd favorite.
Weddings and funerals
Ok I guess this entire week is going to focus on weddings.
There are two moments in our lives where we are the center of attention and we are only conscious for one of them — weddings and funerals.
Which is good news for my fellow introverts and me because being under the spotlight isn’t exactly our sweet spot.
I realized my wedding is the second to last time all of my family and friends will be under one roof. Who am I kidding? Some of them won’t even be able to make my funeral. Because life happens.
I’m relieved my wedding was the last time I’ll have to consciously be the center of attention.
Random thought
They say love is blind, but I disagree.
There’s nothing so clear sighted as love.
I was blind before I met my wife.
But thanks to her, now I can see clearly.
That’s all for the 51st edition of Arman’s Antics. Thank you for sharing a few of your limited attention points with me today.
Share this with a friend who’s a sucker for love. Now back to your regularly scheduled nonstop scrolling.
Have a terrific Tuesday!
Cheers,
Arman
