Having quit my job late last summer, I can relate to this. I saw where my life would go if I stuck around and I didn't like it. The telltale: I didn't want to be like any of the senior people I worked with. But if I stayed, that's where I was heading. Listening to all advice but ignoring some of it is a great lesson. We're taught to think more advice is better. But bad advice exists. People give advice from their experiences, frame of mind, ambitions, regrets, etc. which are unexplainably different from ours. Choosing what to ignore and what to adopt, similarly to receiving edits on your writing, is a master skill.
Great writing also, Arman -- super enjoyable to read.
You are wiser than most. It's so easy to think we want to climb the ladder for climbing's sake without ever looking up and asking if that's even where we want to be.
I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend. That compliment will help me keep going this week :)
Nate Kadlac did a class on (YouTube) thumbnails that stuck with me: If they don't get intrigued by the headline/thumbnail, all the hours you put into crafting, editing and producing the world's best video are pointless.
Thank you Michael. Yes 100% agreed. So many of us take advice from the loudest, most confident sounding person in the room without ever wondering if they have any clue what they're talking about.
Awesome story and message Arman. Especially loved “I gained cubicle weight at an alarming rate.” A perspective that is so true for so many.
Thank you James. Haha that line made me chuckle as I wrote it so I'm glad it stuck out to you too.
Love this piece, and the advice. So glad to have found your writing—through Rick Lewis, of course.
Thank you Rob. Rick is the man! You just made my day by leaving this note.
“Even a blind person could tell I was unhappy” - what a great line.
Thank you Ben I chuckled to myself when I wrote that line so I'm glad you appreciated it too :)

...seems like solid advice tough i am not sure if i should take it...
What did it do to your energy levels....? :)
...a good question defeated by two too many cans of soda...
Cannot tell you how powerful, pulling and true your title is. And the story backs it up.
Thank you Karena. I'm spending more and more time crafting my titles to make them intriguing. Glad you think the story delivered!
That extra effort really paid off!

Great piece. Another rule I try to live by is to never take advice from people who aren’t where you want to be.

I hope any story I share can be applied to your own unique situation. I'm glad you enjoyed it Emily. Thank YOU for reading.
