Hi curious friend,
Coming to you live from Austin, Texas. Here is your weekly dose of Arman’s Antics. A few things I’ve stumbled upon that could be useful to you.
A warm welcome to the eleven new subscribers receiving this for the first time (92 total). 18 days left to find 8 more subscribers by the end of the year. I’m willing to do whatever it takes (even things I’m not proud of like getting on my knees and begging my family members). But you could save me that shame by simply sharing this with one curious friend 😃.
Article I wrote last week
A warm bath (for the mind) turned out to be one of my better essays. Walks are powerful beyond belief.
It’s funny how what you expect to resonate often doesn’t and what you doubt will resonate sometimes does. I’ve stopped trying to predict that type of thing. If it resonates, wonderful. If it doesn’t, wonderful. Either way, I move on to merely show up each day and do my best to create art worth sharing with you.
Book I just devoured
Linchpin by Seth Godin. If you haven’t heard of Seth already let’s have a moment of silence for this tragedy….
He has written twenty bestsellers over the past thirty years on creativity, leadership, marketing and more.
This book explains why the individual must become indispensable in today’s world. The “glory” days of living comfortably by being told how to be a compliant cog in a machine are long gone. The linchpin figures out what to do when there’s no playbook. They are impossible to replace. Please do yourself and the world a favor by reading this book. We need less cogs and more linchpins (that’s you).
Podcast(s) I’m relistening to
For those of you who skipped the last section (I know who you are), I’m giving you another shot at redemption. Because I have been letting the sweet melody of Seth Godin’s wisdom seep into my ears over the past week. It’s time for you to get in on the action.
Seth speaks in a way that sounds like he’s reading poetry. The mic drops per minute (MDPs) are unmatched.
Where ever you start, you can’t go wrong but I recommend his first chat with Tim Ferriss.
I guarantee you will walk away with pages of insights, so get your notebook ready.
Creative writing streak
November was not my best month of consistent creativity but I’ve gotten back on track so far in December.
I’m a perfect 12/12 for writing. I’ve been setting my creativity timer for one hour and sitting down behind the keyboard to type.
Some days it’s magical. Most days it’s not. But it never ceases to amaze me that a few creative gems manage to pop their heads out from under the covers as long as I merely do the work (yes, writing is work).
Random thought
As a thirty year old male I take pride in rarely going to the doctor. But when I do go, I go to the most trusted doctor of all time………..Dr. Seuss.
That’s all the antics I’ve got for you this week. What sections should I keep doing? What must go? Reply to this email and you just might play a part in what Arman’s Antics evolves into over time.
Follow me on Twitter where I sometimes tweet stuff worth chewing on.
Have a Terrific Tuesday, curious friend.
Cheers,
Arman
"Mic drops per minute" - what a brilliant metric
Tim and Seth. Listened to it twice last week. Packed with value.
