We used to do an electronic fast every Sunday as a family., which was wonderful, and also challenging. It's been a few years since our last one and I appreciate the reminder about this possibility.
Noice, I'm glad you got to enjoy the outside world, Arman! I don't do electronic fasts, but I can easily disengage if I want to and don't feel any pressure or stress. Classical music is where it all started (or rather cavemen banging on rocks). Bach is my classical babe of choice.
Love the electronic experiment Arman! I feel like we need to develop better digital hygiene as a species. I for one, refuse to look at my phone more than 5 times a day. Most of the time.
I think it all begins with intention.
I was also mulling over what you said about disagreeing with authors. I've felt that so many times. I guess we all need to value ourselves and our opinions more if we are to gain conviction in our thoughts.
Prior to my writing journey, nearly every weekend in the summer was an electronics fast. It wasn't even intentional. I would put my phone on my nightstand on Friday night and forget about it until Sunday night when I would have to set my alarm. My friends and family would get so annoyed because they could never reach me on the weekends. Tougher to do now because most of my writing takes place on the weekends but I desperately miss those days.
Glad someone is giving classical music its due. I’ve always found well made instrumental music to make me feel more than the word salad era of music we find ourselves in.
