The big one was several years ago when my wife and I moved into a smaller house. It's about half the size of our old house. To be fair the property is about 5 times as big, but that's what we wanted. More room for kids and dogs to run and play and less house to take care of. Plus, the larger house just felt like a waste. Not only did the house payment get cut, but all of the monthly utilities did as well. Another one, is we rarely spend money on eating out or doing things that would be considered entertainment, like going to the movies, etc. We will pack a small cooler and go sit by the lake and have a picnic instead. My daughter loves it because she can run around and isn't confined to a table or booth and it's more time outdoors and less money spent.
I'm all for that! I think so many of us have so much wasted space in our homes. A huge benefit of having a smaller home even as your family grows in size is that you're forced to be around each other more often. And I love finding fun free activities to do. I think those lead to better memories every time!
Love the practicing poverty segment. I'm trying to practice this more often in more areas of my life.
How so? Any tips? I'm always looking for more ways.
