Thanks for Ethan Hawke! The whole section on how creativity is not "nice" is gold. I'm linking to it in my next essay because it's exactly the point I'm attempting to convey with respect to pulbic speaking. The point isn't to get through it without embarrassing yourself. It's to change the lives of people who in the room for the better, and change your own life in the process of accepting the power to do so. And also, among other things, you are a remarkable and trustworthy curator of great content!

Glad you liked it! Tim Ferriss mentioned it as a throwaway line in one of his old podcasts I was listening to, but it caught my attention so I went and checked it out. Best 9 mins in a while.

What a good point. Public speaking has always terrified me so I don't have much experience, but I trust your take because you do.

I already spend too much time consuming content, but now I can at least use that as an excuse by thinking to myself, "I'm doing research to share with my audience!"

Well your content research is certainly serving me. If you want to play with the public speaking thing you might want to join us on a Podium Day event, where we practice telling stories together. This week particularly we'll be focusing on embracing nervousness!

My not-so affordable luxury is playing paddle tennis — like tennis but for overweight dads. It’s incredibly popular in Europe, but kind of pricey.

Hahaha as long as it brings you joy, then it's worth the cost. Is that similar to pickle ball? It's a sport that has become incredibly popular in the states in recent years.

Yes, it's similar to pickle ball, though a bit more demanding!

Those both sound like too much physical effort for me. I'll stick to ping pong :)

Definitely checking out that Ted Talk! In terms of affordable luxuries, I’d say my skincare and hair products 🫣

Excited to hear what you think! It shook me to my creative core.

Haha I can't relate to your affordable luxuries but my wife certainly can!
