I've always wanted to do something like a weekly 'digital Sabbath' but always end up needing to use my phone or computer for logistical stuff. Maybe a half-day a couple of times per week would be more realistic for some of us?

Its harder than it sounds. I try to do a full 24 hour break once a month on a screenless Sunday. But when you consider 8 of those hours are spent asleep it really is just two consecutive 8 hour breaks for two days straight.

This bit about boredom... I've been preaching that to my tech addicted husband for ten years. The only time I've had his complete attention for more than a few minutes was during chemotherapy. This is so well written. Thank you for putting all this into such eloquent words!

I appreciate the kind words Lisa! Ive been doing the same with my wife. She actually agreed to do it with me once and it was one of the better days I can remember us sharing together. Hope your husband has fully recovered!

Sending myself to a tech fat farm soon. Once you okayed books, I had hope. You're right on the lunch tables full of people disregarding each other because of their phones. Half tech addiction, half lack of courtesy.
