I have done this for many years on New Years Eve. Reading my thoughts and expectations from my past self helps evaluate the outgoing year and put things in perspective.
The insights are typically that my thoughts a year ago weren't as always important as they seemed at the time. Life continued on it's own path and sometimes being a passenger is just as rewarding as driving.
