I love Anything You Want! Awesome book, but I went through the same contentious process re becoming a dog owner, and lost that battle too. We need a manual by Derek titled, Anything You Don't Want.
Derek is one of my favorite writers. Definitely check out How to live if you haven't already. That's my favorite! Haha why do most guys seem so against the idea of getting a dog? But end up loving it when they do?
I love all these Sivers mentions! Seriously aspire to write more like him so much. It's fascinating how someone can write so many counter ideas that resonate with the way my mind thinks
I admire his ability to distill his writing into as few words as possible. I think I heard him mention his original draft of How to live was 1000+ pages and the final version is only about 100.
Ah the great warrior princess //have fun man I recommend the monks of new skete (https://newskete.org/) for some good puppy training materials if you need anything...the art of raising a puppy and super puppy both great books...
Thank you for the recs! I started reading "Dont shoot the dog" but havent finished it. I need all the help I can get. My main areas of expertise are petting and giving treats.

That is truly inspiring! (This comment was originally 1000 words long.)
😆
agreed!
I don't know, but I'm sure there a million stories of men cotentiously bonding with family pets.
Congrats! Dog ownership is a blessing and sometimes a PITA. What's the dog's name?
Hahaha that line made me chuckle. Her name is Xena :)

Don't forget snuggles and unconditional love
Unconditional love is the most important. They give that to us every day.
